Is your office Holiday Party Ready?
The Holiday Season is officially upon us. That means office parties, goodies in the break room and coworkers going on vacation or like many offices closing for the holidays. Today we are going to give you some helpful hints on how to get your office ready for those holiday parties and how to prepare for the aftermath.
A good way to keep the office clean all year round is to be as organized as possible, I know it is harder than it sounds sometimes. The key is investing in a couple good pieces of pieces you can keep on your desk or in it to help you stay organized and keep the clutter off your desk.
Make sure the trash is taken out before it starts to over flow.
Keep a recycling container by the copy machines for the copy mishaps, it will help eliminate random paper staking up around the copy machine.
Most importantly keep the break room clean! This is probably the biggest one, but we have some great tips for you on how to get it done! There are going to be an abundant of holiday cookies and treats in the break room this coming month which is amazing but if every one does their part in cleaning up after themselves, you can avoid such things as ants and other stuck smelly messes.
The refrigerator lets just talk about that for a second. According to a survey done by Go Assist Ltd. on offices in the UK the average office refrigerator is cleaned out every 93 days!!!!!! Can you imagine the smell. I bet you can because I bet there has been at least one time when you opened the fridge to get your lunch out and you were overcome by the smell. So this time around when everyone gets ready to go on vacation for the Holidays, make sure everyone takes their leftovers with them.
Another good one to ensure that 93 days does not go by before the fridge in the break room is cleaned. Put a sign up in the break room letting everyone know that any food left at the end of day every Friday will be thrown out. Maybe start a rotation of who gets to be the lucky one to throw all the old food out every Friday! How nice would it be to walk into the break room on Monday morning and it smell like a fresh pot of coffee instead of rotten food!

Office Fitness Challenge
The Business Cleaning Company enjoys living a healthy
lifestyle and we encourage our employees to do so, as well. The Fitness
Challenge was thus created to keep us on our toes! Every month we restart the
challenge to see which employee works out the most by the end of the month. To be
a part of the challenge, employees must submit a minimum of $5 into the workout
box. During our 10-minute breaks or hour lunch break we have the option to exercise
in the breakroom or take a walk/run outside. Employees must exercise for a
minimum of 10 minutes, to document their time on the whiteboard. The winning
employee receives the money from the box or leave it inside the box and double
it for the following month. In addition
to the cash, there is a prize incentive such as a gift card for shoes to
RoadRunner. This month of August, the winner gets a free month of yoga at a
nearby yoga studio!
Our Fitness Challenge can be a notable example for other businesses to implement in their office. It is a perfect way to get employees active and away from their computer screens for a bit. It also helps to bond the workplace more by adding friendly competition and exercising at the same time for cash! Make your work day a little more interesting and start your own Office Fitness Challenge!

Summer in San Diego
SD Music Festivals
Summer has officially arrived! What better way to spend your hot, sunny days in San Diego than by enjoying one or all upcoming Music Festivals!
What better way to begin the festivities than by attending the Del Mar Racing! Don’t miss out on Opening Day, July 19, to be a part of The Party and the annual Hats Contest. The Party consists of enjoying the dance floor with many DJs, Craft Beers and Cocktails, Photo Booths, prize giveaways and shaded seating for only $35 a ticket. Those who are more fashion forward will enter the annual Opening Day Hats Contest, where entrants compete for cash prizes and are judged on style and uniqueness. Del Mar Horse Race offers individuals the chance to dress up fashionable, make huge bets, and witness fast horses. You can enjoy the races all summer long until September 4, with different Artists and bands performing every weekend and activities for families to enjoy.
However, the most anticipated and well-known Music Festival that many San Diegans look forward to is the KAABOO Del Mar Festival! It is a 3-Day Festival that takes place on September 15-17 and it is a weekend filled with Music, Comedy, Cuisine and Art. The main headliners to perform that weekend include: Red Hot Chili Peppers, P!nk, Muse, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Weezer, David Guetta, Kesha, Ice Cube, Jason Derulo, Alanis Morissette and many more artists. What’s better than being by the beach with live music, food and lots of people?!
If you missed the Annual LGBT Pride Music Festival, no need to fret there is always the Hillcrest CityFest Street Fair on August 13! The festival takes place in the heart of Hillcrest right under the Hillcrest sign and is a huge celebration of the community spirit through music, arts, crafts and food. It is an all-day event and come nightfall the area transforms into CityFest Night with live headliner music, beer garden and over 250 vendors. The greatest part of this festivity is that it is completely FREE!

Spring Cleaning
The first
day of Spring has come and gone. This year is just flying by! Earth day is
coming up and we have some tips for you on how to get that Spring Cleaning out
of the way all while giving back!
Your
probably thinking where do I start? Well if your car does not fit in your
garage, I would say it is safe to start in there. We tend to just throw
unwanted or old items in our garage and think we will just deal with them later
and then we forget about them. Well now is your chance to clear it out.
Here are a
list of things to consider going
through
- Toys
- Clothes
- Books
- Linens
First think
you want to do is start with three boxes, one for things you want to keep,
things you want donate and one for trash. This will make it so much easier to
stay organized.
Go through
your closets and then head over to the kids closets and get rid of the things
that do not fit them anymore. There are so many charities you can donate gently
worn clothes to. Someone gets a new outfit and you get more room in your
closet, it is a win win for everyone.
Get your
kids in on it and give them a box and let them go through their room and pick
out toys that have outgrown and no longer interest them. Let them know they
will be going to another little boy or girl who can enjoy them.
Book shelf
overflowing? Still holding onto books from high school. Now is the time to clean that shelf off and wipe the dust
away. Go through your old books that you have 3 times and donate them so
someone else can get lost in the story.
Bathroom
closets overflowing with old towels and sheets, time to make room for the new. There
are a number of places to donate old towels and blankets, for example animal
shelters are always in need of old towels and blankets for the animals. Or you
could turn your old towels into rags and use them to clean.
There are so
many ways to reuse the things in your home and give it a new purpose.
- Last but not least, have a home office or office space that needs sprucing up.
- Start with going through your old files and shred anything you might not need anymore.
- Dust your keyboard
- Put your files in an organizer on your desk to make more room
If you need help spring cleaning your
office. Give us a call at TBCC 858-689-8966 or visit at The Business Cleaning Company for a free quote and let us do the
hard work for you!
