Getting Rid of Dust Mites

Although dust mites do not attack the human body directly, their presence can trigger an allergic reaction causing great discomfort to those who are susceptible to them. In fact, it is not the dust themselves that cause the problem as much as the protein found in their remains and in their excreta, namely DER p1.

Sometimes, normal carpeting cannot remove the remains of dust mites and that is why commercial carpet cleaning needs to be called in.  The fibers of most carpets have a rough fibrous surface that hold dust mites within the pile even when a normal vacuum cleaner is used to suck them out. Only a commercial  carpet cleaner coupled with specialist cleaning agents can do a proper job of removing them almost completely, the operative term here is 'almost completely' because dust mites are impossible to entirely eradicate.

Let's look at the best strategy is for keeping your office as free of dust mites as possible.

  • Use a commercial carpet cleaning service that regularly cleans carpets and schedules the use of a hot steam process at least every six months in conjunction with appropriate pesticides.
  • Eliminate as much dust from the environment as possible from things like shelving and desks which can accumulate dust in large amounts if left unattended. This means that the cleaning contract should involve cleaning all office equipment especially hidden shelves and the tops of books or folders which may be left unused for long periods of time.
  • Look at the possibility of installing air cleaners which will rid the air of dust before it can settle into the carpet.

3 Ways Commercial Carpet Cleaners Work!

There are three methods most commonly used by commercial carpet cleaners. I am sure there are more, but the others I have seen are simply variations of the three we will talk about.

The first and most common method used by commercial carpet cleaners is extraction. This method can also be called hot water extraction or steam cleaning. This method sprays a low pressure mixture onto your carpet and the a wand extracts, or pulls back up the solution into a tank. Most people prefer a hot water extraction, that is the water is heated before it is used to clean your carpets.

The second method commonly used by commercial carpet cleaners is called bonnet cleaning. This is where a technician will pre-spray your carpets and then bring a low speed buffer and run this over your floors. This method works well on surface dirt, but cannot get deep down dirt and other foreign matter.

A third method used by commercial carpet cleaners is called dry cleaning. There is a manufacturer that calls their chemical H.O.S.T. You will probably hear people refer to this as the host method. The chemical is actually a damp powder that looks similar to wet saw dust. This is sprinkled over the carpet and allowed to set in for ten to fifteen minutes. Then it is vacuumed up. One of the only advantages to this method is drying time. It will typically take ten to fifteen minutes to dry after the powder is vacuumed up.

The Cost of Commercial Pressure Washing Services

Factors on which pricing depends

The rates of a high pressure cleaning service are not fixed. They vary according to the area to be cleaned and the time taken to wash. Most companies or contractors charge you by the hour or per square foot of cleaning area. The price will also depend on the materials and the equipment used. A contractor will be able to quote the right price for you only after visiting the site and making an analysis of what the area requires.

After assessing the property, the contractor will decide upon the right mix of chemicals and detergents required to clean the space. If your building is a high rise, then he will need equipments that will take his workers to higher floors from the outside. All these additional equipments will cost you more.

The general prices

In general, the prices that a pressure washing cleaning service will quote will be between $0.08 and $0.18 per square feet for residential buildings, $0.08 to $0.15 for drive ways, $0.10 to $0.90 for roofs in residential building. For mobile homes, the charges will vary from $40 to $90 for the entire work. For commercial establishments, you will be charged $0.02 to $0.30 per square field for new constructions. Drive-thru's are charged per lane of washing, garages between $0.03 to $0.02 and parking spaces between $8 to $20. These rates will give you a rough idea of the pricing. However, these prices vary depending on the contractor.

How Much Does Commercial Window Cleaning Cost?

Getting your commercial office windows cleaned is a necessary expense for any business. If you have your own storefront this is your responsibility to get done. If you rent a space in an office building then it is the property manager's job and the cost is included in your monthly rent.

When you start getting into commercial window washing you need more specialized tools, better trained employees, and more insurance (liability gets higher as the height of a building gets higher). Once your start to get over a certain story you will need expensive pulleys to be able to reach those heights.
So again, how much are you going to spend?

The standard rate in the pacific southwest is $5 per pane. Once you start to get into the really tall heights it is more but this is the standard rate. A pane is any glass surrounded by wood or metal. If your building has 10 panes then the total price will be $50. If your building has 100 panes then your total price will be $500. There might also be a small service fee to cover materials and fuel. This is fairly standard in the industry.

There is nothing that looks better than pristine and clean windows. It makes everything looks great and professional. To achieve this you are going to have to get them washed once a month. Some more premium offices want their windows cleaned every two weeks.

4 Reasons to Clean Your Office Windows

Keeping your business premises clean is important for your image, for your customers and also for your staff. Keeping your windows in pristine condition should be part of every businesses cleaning regime but is often overlooked. We've listed top 4 reasons why commercial window cleaning is so important for every business.

How you keep your business premises will reflect on the way others see you

How your business projects to customers and staff will determine how they feel and interact with your business. If your business is dirty, unclean or messy, this sends a negative message. Your windows are what people first see when approaching your office. This first look into your premises should be positive and reflect your business values.

This is a job for the professionals

Office window cleaning is no easy task. It is not something you want people to try to attempt if they don't know what they are doing or don't have the right tools. The people who clean the windows of buildings that are many stories high, have professional training to learn how to do this effectively and safely.

Stand out from the rest and make your building sparkle

Let's face it. It is often the case in business that people do judge a book by its cover. You want your business premises to stand out and sparkle, not look dull and grubby. Clean windows make a big difference to how your business looks from the outside as well as the inside.

Post-Construction Clean-Up!

Construction Clean up is the most important step in the evolution of a clean house.

Why?

Because you could be stuck with mistakes made by an inexperienced or inefficient cleaner.

If you have ever lived in an older house that still has old labels on the toilets, scratches on the floors or windows or just hired a cleaner who did a lousy job on your brand new house than you will know what I am talking about!  Construction Cleaning is more than just a fast vacuum and a quick mopping.  Walls need to be dry dusted (ceilings and crown moldings too!). Window sills need to be dusted, vacuumed and wiped. The same applies to cupboards and sinks.

Labels (windows and vanities) need to be taken off correctly (more about this in a subsequent entry). Check with the contractor to make sure final inspections are done before removing labels.  Once the dust settles the floor can be vacuumed a few times until there is no evidence of dust. Vacuuming also means getting down on your hands and knees and cornering, edging and closet tracking.  Any paint, caulking or glue spots can be removed. This is a careful, meticulous procedure that if not done correctly will result in unsightly gashes to your floors, windows and vanities.  Vanities (bathtubs, showers can be scrubbed). Check drains first and pull putty and garbage out before using them!  Then and only then would the floor be mopped.
